BILT

BILT is a five week traveling program for boys who want to experience the thrill of rising to a personal challenge AND have an amazing, fun summer in Israel. We believe that every person can be a future leader – each in their own capacity, each with their own personal strengths. Our carefully designed schedule empowers you to recognize your limits – and surpass them. BILT will teach you about your personal skill sets, how to develop those to become the maximum you can be, and how to incorporate those into your life back at home.

The most effective way to discover your personal leadership qualities is through experience. On BILT, we teach leadership through a uniquitely designed mix of varying experiences, designed to provide a diverse group of NCSYers with exposure as well as an appreciation for values such as giving, unity, initiative, authentic Judaism, and living life to its fullest.

If you’re looking for an inspiring summer full of fun, challenge and touring Israel - BILT is right for you!

BILT will give you the opportunities to

·         Hike for 4 days up north

·         Experience life as an IDF soldier on an army base – including training, krav maga, and m-16 shooting

·         Study Torah every morning and night in an organized fashion and throughout the day through informal and experiential learning methods.

·         Water sports, Reef snorkeling, rappelling, night bike riding, paintballing, kayaking down the Jordon river.

September 22nd, 2012 | BILT | Comments |
Our Nursing Home Experience Hi Bilters, On the shabbos of September 8th,I, Avi Mozorosky, along with Yaakov Hoffman and Dovi Brand decided to put our BILT plans into action. We had made a commitment during the summer on BILT that we would go to visit the sick and elderly in Golden Gate Nursing Home near our homes in Staten Island. We were at a friend’s house that shabbos afternoon when,…

Gush Katif Education by Nathaniel Mayberg
August 8th, 2012 | BILT | Comments |
Hi my name is Nathaniel Mayberg and I am a BILTer. Many of you may know about the unfortunate decision that the Israei kneset made seven years ago, to kick out all the Jews in the Gaza area. As opposed to just reading articles and watching news reports on the issue, NCSY BILT gave us the amazing apportunity to spend time with those who were kicked out of their homes seven years ago. After watching a short movie about the evacuation from the view of a basketball team from Gush Katif; we headed over to Gene Tan,…

Krav Maga by Yehuda Brawerman
August 8th, 2012 | BILT | Comments |
Last week after a morning of running a camp for young children from Sderot, we trained Krav Maga with a professional named the "Human Shield" for two hours on Wednesday and  Thursday. I myself am a martial artist, I train Kung Fu and Krav Maga and it was great that I was able to train with the group, learn a few techniques, and see how individuals in the group function and adapt to a stressful envirement and learn how to attack back when attacked. It was a fantastic bonding experience because when practicing and learning various techniques you must…

July 30th - Yom NCSY by Josh Gerhardt
July 31st, 2012 | BILT | Comments |
Hey guys, I'm Josh Gerhardt and I just wanted to tell you about the greatest night of my life, Yom NCSY. Let me start from the beginning of the day. It was yesterday morning everyone got up for Shachris with a smile on their faces knowing that Yom NCSY was heading their way that night. Few of us actually knew what Yom NCSY was all about but everyone was exited to see their friends from around the states that they've been missing. We finished davening and breakfast and went to…

Gadna, by Jack Slomianski
July 27th, 2012 | BILT | Comments |
Hi everyone, my  name is Jack Slomianski and I will be writing about our experience at Gadna. Gadna is a program that teens can do for several days to get a feel for what the Israel Defense Force is really all about.  After leaving Kibbutz Lavi on Sunday, we drove straight to the army base. The view from the base is beutiful. It overlooks a deep desert valley followed by a tall mountain. The first thing that happened when we arrived was that we were split up into three tzvatim (groups), each with an appointed mefaked (commander). There was…

Shabbos in Lavi
July 24th, 2012 | BILT | Comments |
After a hard week of hking and being scorched by the blazing Israeli sun, our BILTers rejoiced as the bus pulled into the beautiful kibutz Lavi in the Southern Galili late last week. Friday morning saw us volunteering for a chesed organization under the auspicious of the famous "Disco Rabbi" Harav Grossman, a meaningful experience for all involved. As the preparations for shabboss began, we were treated to delicious catered buffets from the hotel, allowed to enjoy all of the hotel's facilities, and took the opportunity to relax on the lush green lawns of the spacious hotel. Many took the time in Lavi to relax after…

The Kinneret, by Yonah Haber
July 24th, 2012 | BILT | Comments |
After our yam liyam hike, which was pretty intense, we got to the kinneret, which is  a third of israels water source. We relaxed on the beach there for a little bit. Afterwards, it was a five minute bus ride to Tiberias where we visited the rambam's tomb which was really nice because learning rambam in school is much different than visiting his actual burial site. Then we got some time to shop on the boardwalk. I bought some frozen yogurt with my friends from BILT and explored…

July 13 - One
July 17th, 2012 | BILT | Comments |
"One" One we have become, but how? We were shooting each other with paintball guns in the dark of the night last night in Kfar Saba, much fun, but somehow that was out of love, not divide.  We reflected and enjoyed each other's company on the busses to Chevron and Kever Rochel, refusing to allow the tiring bus ride bear down on our spirits. We broke apart into groups and competed in a scavenger hunt in the Machane Yehuda Shuk, (items to find included "picture holding largest fish possible," "most obscure thing you can…

Top Chef
July 17th, 2012 | BILT | Comments |
Everyone knows teen boys are great when it comes to eating food, but when it comes to preparing food, the odds are stacked against them. Knowing this, it was with apprehension that we approached the Top Chef competition last night, July 16th. The rules were simple, all the NCSYers were divided into 2 teams, given raw cooking materials and told to prepare dinner, not only for the 4 judges, but for the entire BILT as well. I now admit that as a judge, I was quite apprehensive about how these delicacies might taste, and as the head…

Day #1 - Off to a great start!
July 11th, 2012 | BILT | Comments |
What an amazing day! We started of with Pirkei Avos learning with our incredible advisors, where we learnt about Moshe Rabeinu, Har Sinai, and humility. Then it was off to the city of David for a tour of the area, and a nice water hike through the aqueduct. Lunch, a breath taking view of the kotel from the aish building, and the kotel tunnel tours filled up the rest of our afternoon before heading over to gan sacher for BBQ, sports,…
