This one-of-a-kind program is a 4 week fully accredited course in English literature taught by academic scholars.

Shakespeare in Jerusalem gives students the opportunity of touring Israel and earning an ENG 4U credit all in the same summer! Classes are not only held in traditional classroom settings, but are also held while on the road touring and visiting the sites of Israel.

The trip will begin in Jerusalem for an encounter with Israel’s cultural, religious and historical climate. While exploring the neighborhoods of Jerusalem, students will be surrounded by history and tradition.

Students will do major sightseeing tours in all parts of Israel, while studying toward their credit in English Literature. The course will include an exploration of Canadian Jewish Poets such as A.M. Klein, Leonard Cohen and Irving Layton. The course will also analyze Merchant of Venice and an Israeli Novel by Amos Oz and will learn stories from Shalom Aleichem.
