Color War Day 2 & North Tiyul
End of Color War & North Tiyul
We’re so sorry to leave you call in a Color War cliffhanger over Shabbos! Things here have just been so, so busy!
So, Thursday was our second day of Color War and everyone had a great time playing games, painting banners, writing songs, creating stomps, and so much more. By the end of the day, it didn’t really matter who won because we all had such an incredible time expressing their inner talents! But in the end, the race was very close and the ORANGE team won!!
Friday morning we woke up early and headed North to spend Shabbos in the holy city of Tzfat. Shana Bet spent the morning kayaking and playing kayak basketball, which was so much fun. They then joined up with Shana Alef to spend time at the Kineret Beach for women where we all relaxed, swam and had a great time! Then we headed to our hotel in the heart of the ancient city. Friday night, we davened at different shuls (synagogues) around Tzfat- among them the Carlebach shul and the Bresslov shul. It was a real chavaya (experience)! Between the meals, divrei torah (short words of torah), shiruim (speeches), walking tour, and hanging out with friends, everyone had an unbelievable Shabbos. On Motzei Shabbos (Saturday night), we drove to Teveria (Tiberias) to go on an evening cruise on the Kineret. We spent the time on the boat relaxing and singing slow songs under the star-filled sky. It was really beautiful and meaningful for the time period of year we are in now- the Three Weeks/ Nine Days.
The next morning, we woke up early again and headed out for another full day. Shana Alef went on a great water hike called Chezbani or Nacha Snir while Shana Bet hiked the stunning Tel Dan water hike. Then we all met up in Kfar Blum where Shana Alef rafted down the Jordan River (and had a blast!) and Shana Bet did a challenging and fun ropes course! After a delicious lunch, we headed to Kibbutz Misgav Am where we heard from a very passionate 'kibbutznik' (someone who lives on a kibbutz) names Alex Weiss, about what it's like to live on the Lebanese boarder, what life is like in a beautiful, yet war-ridden area, and the importance of maintaining life in such places. After our long day, we started the long drive back home to our beautiful campus and ate our last meat meal for another few days!
Stay tuned for more!
