Upon returning from our tiyul up north, we spent Monday back on campus and Tuesday afternoon in Yerushalayim as the start of another (our second to last!sad) incredible week on Michlelet NCSY!

Monday's special features included hearing from THREE speakers all spread throughout the day! Our first speaker of the day was Dr. David Luchins, Chair of the Political Science Department of Touro College and Founding Dean of Touro’s Lander College for Women, whose wife serves as the Chair of the OU Youth Commission’s Summer Programs Committee. We subsequently heard from Mr. Yossi (Joseph) Stechler, Chairman of the OU’s National Youth Commission, which oversees the entire NCSY as a whole who imparted on us an important message of how lucky we are to be part of NCSY and how we can perpetuate that connection even when we return back to our own communities in Chutz La'aretz. Lastly, we heard from Rabbi Larry Rothwachs, husband of our beloved assistant director Chaviva Rothwachs, who serves as rabbi of Congregation Beth Aaron in Teaneck, New Jersey. For night activity, we enjoyed an evening of competition, fun, and games with our very own Michlelet Olympics! We all had a great time!!

Today, following a morning of learning and activities, we participated in a very special chesed opportunity where we split up and visited a number of different hospitals in Yerushalayim to put our medical clowning skills to work! After our training session last week, we were dressed up, pumped up, and ready to go! It felt amazing to brighten up the days of so many children and adults who unfortunately find themselves spending some time in the hospital. After our chesed trip we enjoyed a trip to the Kotel, a delicious picnic dinner in the beautiful Wohl Rose Garden, and attending a unique gathering for women featuring inspiring speakers on the topic of Shemiras Haloshon to commemorate the first yahrtzeit of Moshe Menora and 3 of his beloved grandchildren z"l, who tragically perished in a plane crash exactly one year ago. We truly had an uplifting, meaningful, and very balanced day and all came back to campus tonight feeling really great about our accomplishments.

Stay tuned to hear more about the fantastic week we have planned here at Michlelet NCSY!
