August 11th, 2011 | Michlelet | Comments
Last night, we had the incredible zechut (privilege) to be a part of the wedding we have been raising money for and preparing for all summer. The decorating, the table setting, the food preparation, the waitressing, the shtick, and so much more were all taken care of by Michlelet girls! We had such a great time dancing with the kallah (bride) and partaking in this incredible mitzvah! Mazal Tov! Today, we had a very busy day. We started out our day at Me'arat HaMachpeila (Cave of the Patriarchs) where we davened at the burial places of Adam, Chava,…

We had an awesome day today at Michlelet NCSY!!! Interestingly enough, our day was sandwiched by shiurim from 2 internationally renowned speakers, each having been either on the way to or coming from the airport!  Our first was after davening and breakfast this morning, where we were lucky to hear some words of Torah from Rabbi Steven Burg, International Director of NCSY, who was on his way to the airport to spend shabbos with another amazing NCSY program. Our day continued with morning and afternoon classes, learning groups, and activities. Later this afternoon, we had the opportunity to…

2 Incredible Days on Michlelet NCSY!
July 20th, 2011 | Michlelet | Comments
Tuesday and Wednesday were a unique experience here on Michlelet NCSY as we spent both days on campus - a much needed break after our buzzing around for the last 2 and a half weeks!  Tuesday, being Shiva Asar B'Tammuz, the fast day that begins our 3 week mourning period leading up to Tisha B'av (fast day commemorating the destruction of our Holy Temple); was spent in a very meaningful way. We began our day with a fascinating and insightful shiur from Rabbi Steven Weil, Executive Vice President of the OU, followed by our usual classes and learning…

July 18th, 2011 | Michlelet | Comments
Wow! What an amazing second Shabbos we had on Michlelet NCSY! The singing, ruach (spirit, energy), divrei torah (speeches), and atmosphere really made for a spectacular experience! For Melava Malka we had a great pizza making activity (yum!), which was interrupted by a flash mob dance by the second year (shana bet) girls and a "bride and groom" running in to break out the summer's long-term chessed (charity) project of making a wedding for a needy couple. It almost felt like a real wedding! We started off the week on Sunday morning with homeroom, learning groups, and classes.…

We then continued on to either rappelling or a water hike- which were both incredibly fun! Afterwards, we headed down to Eilat to check into our hotel and ate dinner at a local restaurant. The next morning, some of us woke up at 4:15 am to go on a sunrise hike to Har Tzfachot! It was well worth…

Our first Shabbos on Michlelet NCSY was incredible! Between the singing, food, davening, and ruach (spirit), we had such a great time! Right after Shabbos, we got dressed up and headed to the dining room for an exciting Melave Malka (post- Shabbos dancing extravaganza).   Our second day of Michlelet has come and gone, and what an amazing day it was! We started out our day with wake-up, davening, and breakfast and then continued on to orientation. After being reminded of the schedule, rules, and where everything takes place on campus, we had an introduction with Rabbi Andi Yudin, husband of our director Mrs. Rivka Yudin, about the laws of Kashrut in Israel and tearing one’s clothes when seeing the Kotel for the first time in 30 days. After the orientation was over, we were privileged to hear a beautiful shiur…
