Shabbat, July 9
There is nothing quite like Shabbat on the NCSY Kollel. The incomparable ruach and atmosphere allow Shabbat to be experienced on the highest of levels. Shabbat is a time for reflection and focus, and our first Shabbat was specifically a time to contemplate goals and appreciate the opportunities that the summer has to offer.
Kabbalat Shabbat set the tone (no pun intended). The spirited davening was led by
Mordy Prus (an authentic Maccabeat!) The great energy led directly into the Friday
night zemirot and the amazing Rabbi Lebowitz-led Tisch that followed. We were also treated to words of inspiration from Rav Sobolofsky.
Shabbat day was marked by a special Kiddush sponsored by the Sobolofsky family in honor of Meir Yaakov’s Hanachat Tefillin. There were special shiurim from Rav Twersky and Rav Efrem Goldberg. Our optional learning seder in the afternoon drew over 100 people to the Beis Medrash.
On Motzai Shabbat we capped things off with a great concert featuring Naftali
Abramson. It was a fantastic weekend, and a great way to prepare for the start of
our first full week and the beginning of our regular schedule.
