Even our off days have some excitement!
On Friday, on our way to the Yerushalayim drop-off for the free weekend, we were privileged to a quick detour and a meeting with Rav Shlomo Amar, Sephardi Chief Rabbi of Israel. Rav Amar has been meeting with Rav Schachter, and when Rav
Schachter described our group, Rav Amar was happy to arrange to meet with us. Rav Amar shared some words of chizuk for the 9 Days. It was a special honor to meet him, and to get a sense for the honor accorded to the Rabbinic leadership in
the Sephardic community.
Our optional Shabbaton in Ramat bet Shemesh was a big hit. It was led by the team of Rabbi Mordechai Burg and Rabbi Yosef Bronfeld, themselves residents of Ramat bet Shemesh. The shabbaton featured ruach, great food, guest speakers, and divrei torah.
