Friday July 22

Rabbi Steve Burg, International Director of NCSY, arrived this morning to spend Shabbat with us. He addressed us before lunch discussing the holistic way to view sefer Bamidbar and what that means to us as leaders. Later in the day the JOLTers put together a showcase for the Machane about the city of Tzfas where after a hysterical play the campers got to 'tour' the mystical city complete with food, crafts, and L'chaim (seltzer water we promise) stations.

We enjoyed a Shabbat dinner and oneg together and sang deep into the night.

Shabbat July 23rd,

After Shacharit Rabbi Burg inspired us all with a call to action to lead in our own personal Jewish environments. Later in the day Chevron was the theme as the NCSY / JOLTers invited the entire camp to walk down the runway at our Chevron Fashion show. What a wonderful way to informally teach about Judaism as instead of fashion our Avos walked the runway and highlighted their midos, history and priorities.

We ebbed Shabbos away with our voices amplified beautifully by those of our new German friends singing side by side. Several NCSY / JOLTers pointed out that it was only a week ago that we were in Auschwitz and Krakow and the contrast of our new location and company made for a magical Shabbat.

Sunday

Today the NCSY JOLTers may have outdone themselves running a Meron themed scavenger Hunt. Campers were invited to try to find Rabbi Shimon Bar Yochai as he hid from the Romans in order to learn Torah.
