Shabbat in Tsfat
This Shabbat was not only special because it was our first one in Israel, but we had the privilege of being in the holy city of Tsfat, one of Israel's four holiest cities. We started off with a Kabbalat Shabbat full of singing and dancing, everyone danced and sang with immense kevana which added to the Shabbos spirit. We then had our our first Shabbat meal in Israel filled with zemirot and good food. The next day, some of us prayed in the hotel with the group and some of us walked to different shuls in the old city of Tsfat. After lunch and a little bit of free time, we went on a tour of the old city. We saw the shul of the Ari, which we learned doesn't have a mezuzah because it is used only for prayer and nothing else (such as eating or learning). After the tour, we had a delicious seudat shlishit and then all joined arms and sang together for a beautiful ebbing (saying goodbye to the Shabbat queen). After havdalah, we ran to the bus and drove as quickly as we could to the Kineret, where we hopped on a boat and sang and danced the night away. We even had a drum circle where each kid got to play the bongos. Everyone was out of breath from dancing by the time the boat reached the shore. After the boat ride, we went back to the hotel for delicious pizza ("wait, I thought we left Italy?"). What a great way to end an incredible Shabbat.
