After our 3 am arrival, it was definitely time for shluffy. After a wonderful "welcome to Israel" breakfast at Achziv field school we left the beach front hotel (yes we could see the mediterranean sea from the hotel). Then we went donkey riding where we had an incredibly charismatic guide who informed us that the phrase of the day was "okay donkey." Then, we got an interactive lesson on how they used to make bread before the days when we just go pick it up in the grocery store. It was a painstaking and intensive process that we all definitely take for granted nowadays. After understanding the lengths that people used to go through to make bread (especially in Israel where it hardly ever rains), we made our own pitas and had a delicious feast of pita and kebabs. Then, we went to a mall in Nahariya to get some long awaited shopping time (the girls were especially happy). After a long day we went back to the hotel and heard an inspiring shiur from Rabbi Lashak on the importance of the land of Israel. Then the advisors planned a surprise activity: a bonfire on the beach! This was truly wonderful and the perfect way to wrap up the exhausting day. We sang all together and roasted marshmallows and listened to beautiful divrei Torah. We all basked in the glory of being in Eretz Yisrael, together with our people.
