Day 30: Zip Lining in the Gush
We started off today with a look into Israeli culture and society by visiting an army base. We got to see all the different cars and tanks they use as well as tour the armory. After the army base, we went to Ma'arat Hamachpela in Chevron, the burial place of avraham, yitzchak, yaakov, sarah, rivkah, Leah, Adam, and chava. After saying a few prayers as well as Kaddish, we left for the Gush--one of the most beautiful regions of Israel. We stopped at Kfar Etzyion and saw a video about how the people of the gush regions fought to defend their villages (and Jerusalem) in 1948, right after the partition of Israel. We saw the original bunker that the sick women and children hid in and were tragically killed in during battle. Then, one of the advisors made a siyum and we had hamburgers for lunch. After lunch, we went zip lining in the gush! It was so amazing! A lot of people conquered their fear of heights to participate in this incredible activity! There was also a ropes course and a rock wall to climb for the people who were waiting to zip line. After zip lining, we went to Kever Rachel to pray at the grave of our beloved mother. Then we finished off the day by going to our hotel in Jerusalem and having a delicious dinner.
