The Holy city of Tzfat
We were so enveloped in the kedusha of Tzfat that we did not even have a chance to update the blog! Our apologies.
This past week, Wednesday through Sunday, we had the honor of visiting the Holy city of Tzfat. Some highlights of our visit included:
- Working with Livnot U'Lehibanot, an organization that works to beautify and rebuild the city of Tzfat
- Painting an elementary school in Afula
- Touring the DeKarina chocolate factory... and making chocolate of our own!
- Eating the chocolate we made ![]()
- Joining with thousands of Jews from all over to visit the kever, grave, of the great Arizal on his yarzheit
- Hearing from Kabbalistic artist Avraham Lowenthal and seeing his work
- Removing dead and fallen trees from the Carmel Forest, as a preventative measure that will
hopefully protect from forest fires spreading in the future
- Visiting the memorial for those killed in the Carmel Forest fires
- Walking through the artist quarter
- Davening Kabbalas Shabbos in the place where the service was compiled and composed
- Davening alongside all different types of Jews from all over
- Going a walking tour of the Holy, historic sites.
- VIsiting Meron on Motzai Shabbos and davening at the kever of Rabbi Shimon Bar Yochai.
- Playing with the children in the Meron Ethiopian Absorption Center
- Learning about how to write a Torah Scroll and Mezusah at Otsar HaStam
It was a jam packed, awesome experience! Now we are back in Mevaseret for the week. Pictures to come!
