Day 4 on GIVE

By tripadmin | July 16th, 2011 | GIVE | 24 Comments

Our morning began as we watched the movie of Michael Levine, an American who enlisted in the Israeli army and lost his life defending our land. From there we traveled to Har Hertzel and learned about the important historial figures buried there. What was most impactful, though, was seeing the graves of the young soldiers who were buried there, many of whom are just a few years out of high school. The girls began to recognize and internalize the sacrifices made every day by our fellow Jews to ensure that we have Eretz Yisrael and are able to visit and live here.

From here, the buses split.

Bus 1 traveled to Shalva, an organization that provides free services for children with special needs. There we received a tour of the facilities, equipped with state of the art technology to assist these children and allow them to reach their greatest potential. We even participated in some of their acitivites with them!

Bus 2 traveled to Neve Michael, a home for children from troubled homes. There we ran programming for children of all ages, played with them and got to know them. We had a blast!

We then concluded our evening with a.... SHLOCK ROCK CONCERT! Everyone came in their wackiest clothing and danced the night away!

Though we were exhausted by the end of the day, it was TOTALLY worth it smile
