Bringing Torah to Life
Bus 1 spent the day in ancient Shilo, where the Mishkan stood over 3000 years ago. To watch history come to life and stand where Chana and Shmuel HaNavi stood, connected us to our roots in a way which we never thought imaginable. We then headed to the Yekev Winery, participating in interactive trivia games, watching videos and learning oh so much about wine making!
Bus 2 started off their day at Leket, an organization formally known as Table to Table, which helps collect vegetables left in the field during harvests. This is a huge mitzvah as all vegetables left in the field are designated for the poor, but without volunteers to collect them, there is no way for them to reach the local soup kitchens and families to whom they belong. What was especially meaningful was working alongside a young family with little children, all volunteering and assisting in the vegetable collection as well. To see a family coming together to work on a chessed project was very inspiring and something we all hope to bring home to our families. We then headed to Ashdod to go... ice skating! Yes, Israel is home to not one, but TWO ice skating rinks! Though not a particularly large rink, it was a refreshing, cool and super fun afternoon.
Both buses then returned to Mevaseret for dinner and color war festivities! The night consisted of team meetings, d'vrei torah, musical chairs and tug of war- over a baby pool filled with chocolate milk. Mmm.
Yellow team's in the lead! Stay tuned for the winner!
